“Artefactos Alterados” exposes a recovery of identity and community through altered objects of ethnic provenance, material culture, and narrative beauty. As viewers delve into the works, a timeline structure will guide them along a survey of jewelry, apparel, and pieces reflective of an evolving perspective. This exhibition will highlight encased works marked by descriptive and relevant data interconnecting every featured artifact. INDUSTRY One invites all art enthusiasts and culture connoisseurs to immerse themselves in a site defined by its core assemblage of beauty and creativity.
Georgina Treviño recreates the gallery into a space of examination meditating on the past and its effects on the present. Through her artistic ability, Treviño unearths a provocative take on nostalgia through a personal analysis of influences, from culture to storytelling to the self. Her wearable work is put on displayas equal parts fashion and frontier, a distinct position taken on preservation through design. These piecesdraw directly from her personal style and background of the 90s, Y2K, and Mexican culture. Her culmination of artifacts mirror not only herself but a decorated means of connecting what once was to what can be.
Being a contemporary artist and jeweler from Tijuana, Mexico and based in San Diego, California, Georgina Treviño and her work has been part of national and international exhibitions in Munich, Puerto Rico, Mexico City, and New York City. Treviño’s practice has been featured in L.A. Times, Elle, Vogue, Allure, and Playboy Magazine, and has seen her collaborate directly with Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Bad Bunny, Rosalia, Fenty, Guess, and Spotify.
